Level of Development (LOD)
TTCADD provides detailed and accurate level of development – LOD services. Another name for it is also called as Level of Details BIM. This is the service that is very closely associated with the BIM services. Without following the stages of the LOD the construction of the building is totally incomplete. With this said the stages of LOD are predefined. These stages LOD 100, LOD 200, LOD 300, LOD 350, LOD 400, LOD 450, and LOD 500 or BIM LOD 500.
LOD augments 3D models through a numerical lexicon to achieve shared understanding among stakeholders for effective and clear communication among disciplines.
Types of LOD :
LOD 100: Conceptual Design
This is the first BIM LOD level in which the process of pre-design of the model is created. Here based on the project the architect prepare the first level of design where the area, heights, locations, volume, and the complete orientation is defined. Hence this is the stage called “pre-design”.
LOD 200 – Schematic Design
This is the second stage of the model element. In this there would not be any specific details, but this process will give you the update on the size and shape of the model. This means here approximate shape, size, locations, orientations, quantities, etc can be known.
LOD 300: Detailed Design
The third stage of the process that is used for presentation purposes. It can be used in a generic Revit families, basic components in libraries and so on. Here all the drawings and designs that are created is been given a shape and design. Hence, it is necessary to provide the accurate details and information in the first two levels so that the rest level of work becomes smooth and convenient.
LOD 350 – Construction And Documentation
This is the stage where how the interface of the building will be looking with various systems can be known with the process of graphics and its written definitions that can be known with the process of graphics and written documents.
LOD 400 / 450 – Fabrication And Assembly
This is the stage where the process of construction will be started and will have high precision in terms of shape, size, geometry, and cost with smallest and minor details, and there will also be separate drawings which will be meant for construction stage. Model elements are modelled as specific assemblies, with complete fabrication, assembly and detailed information in addition to precise quantity, size, shape, location and orientation.
LOD 500 – As- Built Stage
This is the final stage where you will be getting all the information that is related to the maintenance and operations. Here the complete information of what the actual project will be looking line will be known and how it will be working will be checked. In addition to actual and accurate in size, shape, location, quantity and orientation, non-geometric elements can be embedded with model elements at LOD 500.
